It’s been a little while since my last post – mainly because things have been slightly manic in our lives!
We left the UK on a very grey afternoon earlier this week and arrived in sunny Spain. We got the keys to our new house and since then have been building A LOT of flat packed furniture and have pretty much visited every supermarket and home furnishing store in the area.
Out belongings arrived this afternoon so we now have lots of boxes to unpack, but we’re gradually settling into life in the sun.
The weather hasn’t disappointed, it’s been blue skies and temperatures above 23 degrees since we got here. Just my kind of weather! We felt so much of the stress from everyday life disappear as soon as we felt the sun on our faces.
We’ve had to get used to the Spanish sense of time already – everyone is late for meetings and deliveries – but we have found everyone to be so helpful. We visited Little H’s new school and had hired a translator from a local firm to help us out. She met us as she picked up her daughter from school and refused to take any money from us for her time simply saying she was just helping out another mum.
Everyone at the school was very friendly and Little H was walking around hand in hand with a Spanish girl within minutes. She’s now excited for school in September which has lifted a big weight off our shoulders.
Apart from school meetings and building furniture, it still feels a bit like a holiday still. Next week will be a full “week off” where we have some days out planned, but after that, I will be in full on freelance mode while the husband is “Daddy Daycare”. I’m hoping to be finished work by lunchtime each day so we have afternoons off together but time will tell if that plan works out!
We can’t quite believe that after years of talking about it (and a lot of stress!) we have actually moved to another country. I’m not sure when it will sink in that we’ve really done it!
I’m so proud that we have made this dream a reality – how many people are actually brave enough to do something about their dreams and not just talk about them?
I will keep you updated with our journey, and will soon get back to blogging about all the usual things. In the meantime, if you want to check out what we’re up to, you can follow me on Instagram
Hasta Luego!

What an amazing adventure you are starting together. How wonderful for your daughter to be able to experience a new culture and language. I’m sure she’ll be bi-lingual in no time at all. #KCACOLS
