As you may or may not have noticed I haven’t written a blog post in a while – it’s actually the first time in a few years that I haven’t published at least one post a week!
I’ve had something big on my mind and that’s been keeping us occupied but I haven’t been able to write about it, so it was easier to not just write anything at all for a few weeks. However, I can now tell you all the big news and get back into blogging…
We’re moving to Spain!!
Yep, we are selling the house, packing up our belongings and leaving the country. The house sale is almost complete (I really hope I don’t jinx it by writing this post!), we’ve signed a rental contract on a house in Spain and we’ve got all the application forms for the local school. As soon as we complete on the house we will be on our way – hopefully, it will be before the end of May.
Moving abroad has been something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I begged the husband to move to Australia a long time ago but he wasn’t keen. Then we bought a house, got married, had a baby and the chance had passed.
We’ve been very lucky to be able to visit Spain every year for the last 10 years or so due to a family holiday home over there. We absolutely love the country and each time we’ve visited we haven’t wanted to leave. We’ve had a running joke for the last few years of “Let’s move to Spain” every time something annoys us, and one day the conversation suddenly turned to “Why don’t we just move to Spain?!”
The plans have been around 2 years in the making while we’ve saved enough money, done our research and waited to see what was going to happen with Brexit. With the first 2 items on that list done, and no one having a clue about the 3rd, we decided it was time to put this plan of ours into action.
It’s going to be scary, there’s going to be a lot of change for all of us, and we don’t expect it to be easy, but we’re confident that it will be an amazing opportunity for all of us. More sun, more time together, more time outdoors and less on gadgets, new adventures and hopefully a better quality of life.
Some people have looked at us like we’re completely crazy (and maybe we are!) but if we don’t do it now we’ll miss our chance and regret it forever more.
So…we’re heading for the Costa Blanca and I’ll keep you all updated via my blog and instagram posts.
I’m not sure what our new life will mean for this blog in the future, but for now, I’ll keep on blogging and hopefully, those of you who have read my posts for the last few years will carry on reading to keep up to date with our lives. As well as more travel posts, there will still be the same posts and information about working mums, school and general parenting, but maybe with a few new angles as an expat mum.
I look forward to sharing more information about our move to Spain with you in the coming weeks. If you’re an expat mum I would love to hear from you so please do get in touch via the comments or on social media!
