What We Did in October

What we did in October

Well, that’s it, we’re into November which means it’s basically a countdown to Christmas now.

I’m not quite ready to embrace Christmas though, I don’t start to feel Christmassy until December so for now I think we’ll still enjoy the Autumn and getting out and about before it gets too cold.

Here’s a little look at what we did in October…

My birthday is at the start of October and for the first time ever I had to go to work on my birthday – yuk! I used to always take the day off but thanks to schools having so much holiday I’ve used up all my annual leave.

It wasn’t too bad though and after school we went for Mexican food which was nice, especially on a school night. Gotta love giant sombreros and churros!

Bike ride

While the sun was still shining and it was fairly warm we went for a walk/bike ride at Upton Country Park – that’s us walking and Little H riding her bike! It was so warm we even had an ice cream afterwards.

The views at Upton Country Park are always fab and it’s a great place to get some fresh air and blow away the cobwebs.

Monsoon Blogger Event

We were invited to a blogger event at Monsoon at Castlepoint Shopping Centre to take a look at their new Christmas range. They have some lovely things, I especially loved the kids’ clothes and Christmas decorations, and Little H loves all the unicorn accessories.

Lunch & Alpacas

For my Mum’s birthday we headed to the New Forest for a nice pub lunch. My parents had arranged a ‘surprise’ for Little H and her cousins afterwards and a fab surprise it was….

Walking an alpaca!

We ended up with a very naughty alpaca called Inca who just kept wanting to run off but he was very cute and it was a lot of fun. We’re looking forward to visiting the alpacas again soon!

Pumpkin Picking

October brings with it our annual visit to the pumpkin patch! Every year we manage to go on a really bright sunny day which makes it a lot more fun.

We got 3 good pumpkins, Little H had a good time in the play area and we had an ice cream in the sun.

Dry ice fun

This half term I had 3 days off which is the most I’ve had in a row for a long time. We went to the cinema to see Smallfoot, had a lazy day at home, and loads of fun taking part in a Dry Ice & Potions workshop at the Science Zone in Boscombe. We’ve been to a few different workshops there and they are always such good fun.

This one involved potions, bangs and a visit to the sensory and dinosaur rooms.

To end the month we had lots of Halloween fun. Some friends had a party, we carved our pumpkins and of course, went Trick or Treating.

Little H enjoyed dressing up though I have a feeling my husband enjoyed it more!

I hope you had a good October – what did you get up to?
