Last weekend we found a gem in the New Forest – I can’t believe we didn’t know about it before!
Little H suddenly has a thing for llamas and alpacas. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen our llama haul from Flying Tiger – we only went in for a backpack!
My mum told us about an alpaca farm in the New Forest so we went on a drive to find it.
Petlake Alpacas of the New Forest is a working farm between Cadman and Totton. It’s not a petting zoo but they do occasionally do special events where you can touch the animals. If you follow them on Facebook you can find out what they are doing and when.
It’s free to go into the farm and as soon as you enter you can see a field of alpacas. Little H managed to feed them some grass over the fence and they were very interested in coming to say Hello.
Around the corner we found a field of baby alpacas – have you ever seen anything cuter?!
We wanted to take this little one home with us!
It’s only a small farm but we spent about an hour there while Little H fed and talked to just about every alpaca there. There are also goats, pigs and donkeys to see.
There’s a small shop where you can buy various alpaca-related products, we couldn’t leave without this very cute cuddly alpaca who has gone everywhere with us ever since.
If you book in advance you can take an alpaca for a walk for £19, we’re currently trying to find time in our calendar to do this! You can also adopt an alpaca for £40.
If you are out and about in the New Forest, it’s definitely worth a quick stop at Petlake Alpacas. How could you resist these little guys?
Bournemouth/Poole/Southampton folks – have you heard of Petlake Alpaca Farm before?

Uh oh, a shop (our 8yo is unicorn and llama obsessed and bought a ‘don’t be a drama llama’ mug with her job money!). As for that baby llama, cute but I’m sure our pup would just bark at it! #kcacols
