This week has mainly been about the snow – we never ever get snow down here in Poole but we’ve had more than I’ve seen in years! On Thursday the school opened with them rescheduling lessons so that the kids could play outside. They closed at lunchtime though and all day on Friday, so we had a day at home with me working from the comfort of the sofa.
We did go out for a bit to play and it was mental out there – like a scene from the film The Day After Tomorrow! Cars were abandoned on the side of the road, people panic bought bread, milk and pizza (!), and the UK basically came to a standstill. Who knows what we’d all do if we had really extreme weather like some parts of the world!
Anyway, here’s what we’ve been up to since my last #LittleLoves post….
I haven’t read that much myself lately but Little H has read lots as always. Our favourite book in February was Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls which I’d recommend to everyone!
They have also started a topic based on Roald Dahl stories this term so we’ve been reading James and the Giant Peach
. Roald Dahl was my absolute favourite author when I was younger (still is actually!) and his books can definitely be thanked for developing my love of reading so I love that Little H is enjoying them too.
For Book Week we had to take a photo of Little H reading somewhere “extreme”, this was our entry…
Still on the Roald Dahl theme, I’ve introduced Little H to the Matilda and Charlie & The Chocolate factory films. She loved both, especially Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp version) and we’ve watched it 4 or 5 times in the last week!
I binge watched the six-part series Save Me this week. OMG if you have access to Sky Boxsets go and watch it. It’s really good and completely gripping, even though some parts are a bit hard to stomach, especially for parents.
I don’t get much chance to listen to music anymore but I have been playing the Dua Lipa album in the car on my way to work. I know I’m a bit behind everyone else on this bandwagon, but it’s such a good album.
We ‘made’ a costume for World Book Day but then it was postponed because of the snow so I’ll maybe get to show that in my next #LittleLoves round-up!
On one of our snow days I set Little H up at the dining table with an Egg Crafting Kit, so that I could get some work done. She loved it and I think she did well with her little Easter decorations, especially as the kit was only from the pound shop!
We also made cookies but there are no photos of those – eaten far too quickly!
Our wardrobes for the last few weeks have consisted mostly of welly boots, jumpers, coats, hats and scarves – anything warm!
Our rain suit from Wet Wednesdays has been a godsend lately. We went on a very muddy walk at Mottisfont last weekend and it allowed Little H to splash as much as she liked without me moaning that she was getting her clothes wet.
This week’s @NationalTrust #ntchallenge is “Adventure Is Out There”. Even the smallest things are adventures when you’re 6, like splashing in puddles and getting really, really muddy! 😁 (Thank goodness for the waterproof trousers from @wetwednesdays.co.uk!)

It’s was also great for sending into school when they played in the snow on Thursday.
Since we hardly ever get snow here are a few photos from our snow days – including “Bert” our little snowman and our iced over windows. As much as I liked the snow, let’s hope Spring is on the way soon!
Hope you’ve been enjoying the snow and had a good February. What have you been up to lately?
