This month’s book recommendation is one we’d seen a lot of people talking about so thought we’d jump on the bandwagon! It’s a great book with a lot of ‘Girl Power’ so if that sounds like your thing read on to see our February book recommendation…
Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls
As you may have seen from some of our previous book recommendations we love a book with strong female characters and inspirational women, and this month’s book, Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls, didn’t disappoint.
Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls contains 100 tales of some of the most amazing women to have ever lived. Each page has a great illustration and short story to tell you about the lady in question.
The women featured range from scientists, political activists, writers, artists, sportswomen and many more. Whatever your child is into, there’s an amazing lady to read about.
Little H especially enjoyed reading about Marie Curie and Margaret Hamilton as at the moment she either wants to be a scientist or a computer programmer.
The book is perfect for learning about women you may not have heard about before – I sat reading the book myself and was ashamed at how many I didn’t know anything about. Little H was enraged that women in some parts of the world can’t drive and enjoyed reading about Manal Al-Sharif!
There are also some great historical women featured which will no doubt come in very handy for future school projects.
The illustrations are fab, really colourful and each one is so different.
As well as the stories, Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls is full of fabulous inspirational quotes. I especially love the quote at the start of the book…
Some of my other favourite quotes from the book are…
I’d recommend Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls to all kids, both girls and boys. It’s such an interesting read for any child and very motivational.
Happy reading!

I have followed these guys on Instagram for ages and really need to grab myself a copy. I have two boys and they need to read this. Who knows what kind of world they will be growing up in but hopefully strong women will be at the centre of it!
