It’s the first weekend of December and the tree is up. This is the earliest we’ve ever done it, normally it’s the middle of the month and we’re only just getting into the Christmas spirit. This year we were invited to take part in the Christmas Blog Hop with Balsam Hill so my festive spirit has arrived early!
The 1st December arrived and I felt quite excited about Christmas. I drove to work with the Christmas songs playing loudly on the radio and went to listen to Little H sing Christmas songs in the afternoon. Then we came home and ate lots of Roses while decorating our new tree.
I’ve been looking forward to putting up the tree since everything arrived in the post a couple of weeks ago. We always have fun decorating the tree together and it’s a good way to start off the festive season.
For the last few years, we’ve had a blue and silver themed tree, this year we’ve gone for more traditional red, white and silver.
The tree decorations we chose were the Nordic Frost Bauble set featuring different shaped hand-painted glass baubles accented with hand-applied beading and glitter. These are really beautiful and delicate baubles, with lots of different designs.
Each set includes 25 baubles and we had 2 sets which was just enough to decorate the whole tree. We also added some red beads and some smaller red baubles to fill the gaps and I’m really pleased with how they look.
We chose a pre-lit tree – no more untangling lights or trying to find the faulty bulb! I won’t tell you about the arguments that have been had in previous years due to the stress of untangling lights!
We always have an artificial tree as believe it or not I’m allergic to real ones! I picked the 6ft Norway Spruce with Candlelight LEDs. We don’t have much space in our living room so I went for the Narrow 45″, though it was bigger than I expected we did manage to squeeze it in. It’s very realistic looking for an artificial tree, and was so easy to put together. It even came with gloves (which came in very handy after the needles spiked my finger a couple of times!) and a storage bag.
As well as the tree we had the Lodge Faux Fur Tree Skirt in Ivory to cover the base. It’s so lovely and soft, and gives the whole tree a luxury Christmassy look.
I’m now feeling really festive and am looking forward to the Christmas days out we have planned soon. The first one is this weekend and I’ll be sure to tell you all about our Christmas adventures – don’t forget to check out my Instagram as well to see what we’re up to over the festive period.
In the meantime why not head over to check out the other blogs in Balsam Hill’s Christmas Blog Hop.
Have you put your tree up yet, or are you waiting until a bit nearer Christmas?
Sincerely, Alice
I’ve never heard of a pre-lit tree but this makes soooo much sense! My family has had the same ‘hanging up the lights’ pre Christmas fight plenty of times over the years, lol.
