We have just had to make an autumn fairy costume for a school disco and I thought I’d share it with you.
I’m not very good at making costumes and I do not sew at all, so if you ever see anything like this on my blog you know it’s going to be easy!
To make this you will need:
Felt sheets in autumnal colours
- Fairy wings
- Plain headband
We used a red tutu from last year’s Christmas outfit and some pink fairy wings we already had.
There are some good and fairly cheap autumn coloured tutus and fairy wings on Amazon if you need to buy some:

Once you have your fairy wings and tutu, here’s what you need to do to make your no-sew autumn fairy costume…
Draw different leaf shapes on all colours of felt and cut them out.
Arrange the leaves on the fairy wings and the tutu in a random pattern and stick down with superglue. (Make sure you put some cloth underneath the wings and tutu so the glue doesn’t seep through and stick to the table!)
Stick a couple of leaves to the headband.
We used a Harry Potter wand that we already had, but you could also make a wand by glueing some of the felt leaves to a stick.
If you don’t need to use the shoes again you could also stick some leaves on.
And that really is it! I hope your little fairies enjoy their costumes.
