Starting School by Janet & Allan Ahlberg
This was definitely the firm favourite in our house. All books by the Ahlbergs are fab so you know it’s going to be good. It goes through all the fun things kids get up to at school and really gives little ones an idea about all the cool things they’ll be doing.
Topsy and Tim Start School
A good book for any fans of the tv programme Topsy & Tim. You can see what they get up to at school and have fun with the stickers as well. A bonus is that you’re not made to feel inferior by the perfect mum from the TV show!
I am absolutely too small for school
I love Lola, she really does remind me of how Little H was when she was smaller. This book touches on the worries that kids might have about school, and as per the tv show Lola always ends up having a great time in the end.
Starting School Sticker Book
Another book that shows what a typical day at school might look like, and the kids can get involved with the stickers. I think any book like this is a great idea as little ones have no idea what school really is.
This wipe-clean book tells kids all about school, as well as teaching them colours, shapes and days of the week.
If your child is starting school – good luck and I hope some of these books for school starters help! If your child is already at school, did you read any of these books or any others to prepare them?
