Not only is it now July (how did that happen?!), it’s also a year since I did our first monthly round-up. I probably need to think of something else to do for the next 12 months, but haven’t decided what yet so I’ll stick with this for now!
Another June Round-Up
June was a mixed month weather-wise. We had some amazingly hot weather and some really crappy weather, so our days out have been varied.
The month started off really warm and we thought summer had arrived.
We had some great fun after school and work including trips to the park, the beach, and walks by the river.
Unfortunately, I had to work most of half-term so Little H spent the week between grandparents and a friend’s house. I had the Friday off and as the weather was still good we headed to the farm. We had a great time grooming and riding ponies, holding guinea pigs and go karting. It might only have been one day off together but it was a good one!
We headed down to Portland Bill in Dorset one weekend. There’s not much on Portland except for the lighthouse which costs a ridiculous £20 for a family of 3 to go to the top. We didn’t want to pay that so went for a wander and then into Weymouth for some lunch. If you’re ever down that way I wouldn’t bother visiting Portland, though the lighthouse does make a good photo!
While the sun still around we headed straight to the park after school. Little H played in the fountains, we had an ice-cream and did some exploring.
The heatwave continued into Father’s Day weekend and we had a fab time. On the Saturday we went to Fritham in the New Forest and found a great picnic spot by the lake. Little H went paddling and we went to see the New Forest ponies.
On the Sunday we spent the whole day in the garden. I got my bikini on and my sunbed out and didn’t move for most of the day! Little H played in the paddling pool and the husband did a BBQ – our first of the year. It was lovely to get to spend some time in the garden and not have to go out.
Little H had an inset day and it was the husband’s turn to take the day off. Luckily as I finish at 2pm I got to meet them down the beach afterwards. It was like being on holiday!
At the end of the month, we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. 10 years! I can’t believe it’s gone so quickly. It really doesn’t seem that long ago that we got married, but when you think about it a lot has happened. Our big 10-year celebration is our family holiday next month, but we did manage a night out eating Thai food and drinking cocktails by ourselves. We also went out for lunch with my parents to a lovely hotel by the river in Christchurch.
And just like that June is over! July is set to be a good month – the start of the summer holidays and we’re jetting off to somewhere far sunnier. Look forward to telling you all about it next month.
Hope you all had another good month 🙂
