As you’ve probably seen recently, we love getting outdoors at the weekend. Even when the weather is a bit rubbish it’s nice to get some fresh air and let the small one run wild. So when we were sent a waterproof rain set by Wet Wednesdays we were delighted. They were even kind enough to let me host a competition for one lucky winner, so read on…
This weekend it was dry but absolutely freezing with some snow in the air, but we weren’t going to let that stop us! We wrapped up warm, put our wellies on, and headed to our local country park.
When Little H was smaller we always had an all in one puddle suit for her and I was quite disappointed when she got too big for those. A few months ago we bought her some waterproof trousers and they were ok but kept falling down as she was running around.
The rain set we were sent by Wet Wednesdays was a fab pink and orange waterproof jacket and matching dungarees. Little H is a few months away from 6 and of average height (though dead skinny) but we went for the 4-5 years set. I’m glad we did as there is still plenty of room in this size and the next one up would definitely have been way too big.
The dungarees have adjustable straps and poppers on the side to tighten them around the waist a bit. I’d definitely recommend dungarees rather than trousers.
The jacket felt quite lightweight and I thought it was probably more for Autumn than a freezing February day. However, the website says these suits are designed for Forest Schools in Scandinavia so we thought we’d see how warm it was. Plus Little H was determined to wear her new coat! We bundled her up and took a spare coat just in case but in the end, she ended up taking it off anyway. How do these crazy kids not feel the cold?!
At the park Little H headed straight for the mud and I wasn’t at all worried about her getting her clothes or coat dirty.
This rain set is lovely and bright so you can see them easily if they want to run off. There are also reflective shapes on the jacket so on a dull day you wouldn’t have any issues with them being seen.
The suit looks really cool, not too babyish for an almost 6 year old. Little H loved it and we got quite a few approving looks from other parents. She said it was comfortable, and it didn’t slow her down or stop her from climbing.
It was definitely put to the test. Little H fell over a couple of times and there wasn’t a mark on the trousers (she was fine too!). The trousers got absolutely covered in mud and you could see how waterproof they are as the mud was just sliding off.
The material can pretty much be wiped clean but I put them in the washing machine on a cool wash as they were very dirty. A few puddle suits we had before always came out with mud stains on the bum, but these came out looking as good as new.
We were really impressed with the rain set. The material is very good quality and the design is fun and practical. You don’t have to worry about them getting their clothes dirty, or spending hours trying to wash the mud out of leggings!
If you have a puddle splashing, mud loving child then we’d definitely recommend taking a look at these rain sets.
If you like what you see and would like to win a rain set from Wet Wednesdays then I have one to give away. You can choose from pink & orange, black & orange, or navy rain sets.
