Being a mum is tiring! Whether you’re a stay at home mum or a working mum I bet you fall into bed absolutely shattered every night. I know I do – I’m permanently exhausted and I only have the one child to deal with. I can’t imagine how tired mums of 2 kids or more are.
I think it’s important we all get a bit of ‘me time’ on a regular basis to stop us from going a bit crazy. Here’s my suggestion for an evening of relaxation to help you re-charge your batteries.
Wait Until After The Kids’ Bedtime
There’s no point fooling yourself that you can let your other half deal with bedtime in order to get some peace. I’ve no idea why, but kids seem to be incapable of asking Daddy questions even when he’s sat right next to them. What is it with that?!
Before you make a start on your evening of relaxation you definitely need to wait for the small people to be in bed first.
Run A Bath
The most important part of this is to lock the bathroom door! Lock yourself in and everyone else out to avoid little visitors intruding if they do decide to get out of bed.
Run a nice bubble bath, light some candles if you want, maybe put your headphones on and listen to music, prop your iPad up to watch Netflix or read a book.
Stay in there until your skin shrivels and the water turns cold. Make the most of it, god knows when you’ll get chance to do this again.
Paint Your Nails
Once you’ve had a nice long soak in the bath put your comfiest PJs on and paint your nails. I love having nice nails but hardly ever get round to doing them. I’m really impatient though and always smudge them so if you’re like me go for the quick dry polishes!
Relax With An Eye Mask
While you’re waiting for your nails to dry why not use an eye mask. I sit in front of a computer all day and my eyes are so tired and itchy by the end of every day that I struggle to keep them open of an evening.

Have An Early Night
Once you’re feeling lovely and relaxed, don’t undo all of your hard work by getting your phone or laptop out again and tiring your eyes by staring at a screen. Turn your phone off and take advantage of an early night.
I can guarantee you’ll wake up tomorrow (or be woken up) feeling like a new person!
