I love cake (who doesn’t?!) so when bakerdays offered to send us a cake to review I was very interested! Especially when they said I could also host a competition to give away a cake to one of my lovely readers…
Bakerdays is a “personalised celebration cake specialist”, providing fantastic cakes for all occasions. We were offered a Halloween cake which pleased Little H as, like most kids, she loves anything Halloween related! There were 25 different designs to choose from and we spent a while browsing through them before Little H chose her favourite.
24 hours later the cake was waiting on the doormat when we got home from work and school – very speedy service!
The smallest cake that bakerdays make is the Letterbox Gift Cake. At 5″ it’s the perfect size to fit through a letterbox and not need a signature. Ideal if you want to surprise someone without worrying whether they’ll be home or not.
The Letterbox Gift Cake was well packaged to avoid it getting squashed, and came in a nice, little metal tin. The box even had a notecard, candles, balloons and a party blower which of course kept my 5 year old amused for a while!
The cake was actually bigger than I’d imagined – clearly I’m not very good with sizes – and the picture on the front was nice and clear. Little H had chosen a cute design rather than a spooky Halloween one, and was very chuffed that we’d been sent a cake with her name on – though I annoyed her by insisting on taking photos before the poor kid could try any cake!
We cut into the cake and had a little slice each. I was very impressed at how soft and fresh the cake tasted – after all it had been through the post and we’d taken a few days to get round to opening it.
It was just me, Little H and the husband sharing the cake and there was more than enough to go round. The Letterbox Gift Cake serves 3-4 portions but there would be more than enough for a small party of 5 or 6 kids.
I think this a great gift idea. My mother-in-law doesn’t live local, and lives by herself, so I think for her next birthday one of these small cakes would be a lovely surprise for her to receive – and at £14.99 it’s much cheaper than the usual bunch of flowers!
You can choose cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, hen parties, mothers day and much more. There are so many different designs to choose from, including adding your own photos and personalised text. There are also various flavours to choose from including vanilla sponge, chocolate chip, and there are gluten and diary free options too.
If the Letterbox cake isn’t big enough you can also order small, medium and large cakes which is great for when you just don’t have chance to get to the supermarket or bakery to get a cake.
If you order before 2pm, bakerdays will deliver the very next day so these cakes are perfect for a last minute celebration or if, god forbid, you’ve forgotten someone’s birthday!
If you’d like cake through your letterbox you can order your cake from www.bakerdays.com – or enter my competition below to win your very own Letterbox Gift Cake.
Terms & Conditions:
Entrants must be over 18 years of ages and live in the UK. The winner will be selected at random via the Rafflecopter app and their contact details will be passed to bakerdays who will get in touch about the prize. The competition ends on 24th October at 12am.
I’m off to polish off the rest of the cake…
