Our August Round-Up

  • September 1, 2016

I can’t believe it’s September already! Where on earth has this summer gone? Back to school next week, and then darker mornings and colder weather will be on the way. How depressing.

Before I start getting sad over the end of summer here’s a little round up of what we got up to in August…

August Round-Up

Last month’s round up ended just as we jetted off on holiday to Florida. We had an absolutely amazing time in Orlando visiting Disney World, Universal Studios and generally enjoying the fantastic weather. It already seems such a long time ago but I know all three of us will remember it forever. If you want to find out more about what we got up to you can read all about it here.

When we got back from holiday unfortunately it was straight back to work. Having used up most of our remaining annual leave we had to make lots of arrangements for Little H to spend time with her grandparents and at holiday club. I did manage to get a day off last week and it was the hottest day of the week! Little H and I packed up a picnic and headed to our local country park where she ran through the fountains while I sunbathed watched.

My Dad recently bought a kayak and has been dying to take Little H out in it – he even bought her a wetsuit and life jacket. I wasn’t sure she’d be brave enough but as usual she surprised us and thoroughly enjoyed it. Getting her out was the hard part!

In typical British Weather style it was hot all week while we were at work and then rubbish at the weekend. As it was raining one weekend we all went to the cinema with my parents to see The BFG. I think I was most excited as have always been a big Roald Dahl fan. Little H has seen the cartoon version and really enjoyed the new film – especially the whizzpopping!

Every Sunday since coming back from holiday we’ve had a birthday party to go to. Kids parties aren’t my idea of a fun afternoon but it was lovely for Little H to see some of her school friends. Over the bank holiday weekend we had my cousin’s 30th birthday party up in Essex, which was definitely much more fun than a 5 year old’s soft play party! All the family was there, and Little H had a great time playing with her cousins and being spoilt by relatives she doesn’t see very often.

So that’s summer over! I hope you all had a great August as well. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the sun might stay for a bit of September too.

What a great month August was for you. I’m right there with you about children’s party, when they are all the time it’s gets a bit repetitive. I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse for me when Alice starts school next week!! Thank you for joining us at #SharingtheBlogLove X

I’ve loved reading your Florida posts! And it sounds like the rest of August has been wonderful too – the kayaking sounds amazing! And I still need to get to see the BFG film – I was so excited when I saw the trailer a few months back but we seem to have had no free time lately to get to the cinema. Thanks so much for joining us again at #SharingtheBlogLove
