As you may have seen last month, I started a new little blogging tradition. Every month I’ll do a round-up to show you all what we’ve been up to. With going on holiday at the end of July this one is a bit late but I thought I may as well post anyway!
July was a great month – the weather turned nice at last and the schools broke up for the summer holidays.
Here’s our July Round-up…
July saw the end of Little H’s first year at school – where on earth did that year go?! Before the end of term we had her first sports day which was great fun. It was a team set-up between the different colour groups which made it less competitive (between the parents!). Little H’s favourite race was the “jump in the bag race”, known to you & me as a sack race!
We managed a fab weekend at our local country park. We go there a lot in the winter, but summer’s even better as they turn the fountains on. Little H was so much braver this year, she normally just stands on the edge scared to get wet but this time ran straight in and was playing for ages. It was lovely to see her having so much fun and we managed to have a bit of a peaceful lay on the grass.
A university friend of mine came over to England for a few weeks and stayed with us for a weekend. We’ve been friends since we were 19 and it’s always lovely to catch up. Little H absolutely loves her and won’t let me say she’s my friend, she’s has claimed her as her own bestie! We went out for a meal, did some shopping, and had a BBQ in the garden.
The fantastic weather let us have some fun after school! We played in the garden lots and went down to the beach for a splash in the sea. One evening we went got some fish & chips after work and ate them down the beach before watching the sunset. We really appreciate where we live as soon as the sun comes out.
As a belated get together for my brother’s birthday we went to The Captain’s Club in Christchurch for afternoon tea. As you can see from the above photo it was very yummy. Lots of sandwiches and more than enough cake for one person, I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to go for a special occasion.
Little H and I headed back to Christchurch a few days later to check out Saxon Square shopping centre and had a lovely girly day. We were pampered, did a bit of shopping and had some lunch in the sun.
Then we jetted off to Florida, so August’s round-up will be a good one!
Hope you all had a great month too.
