Busy Blogging Times At Digital Motherhood

I haven’t updated on my work/freelance situation for a while so thought I’d post a little update…

As you might know the Digital Motherhood blog is a re-named, re-vamped version of my old blog. I mentioned in a recent post that I had to re-name due to another company having trademarked some keywords that I was using, but I also had a few other reasons for wanting to move to a self-hosted blog and have a bit of a redesign.

My day job is for a property company where I’ve worked for 9 years, I enjoy the work but like most mums am on the quest for a more even work/life balance. Last year I also started doing some freelance social media management and it’s my aim to be self employed by the start of 2017! Getting that far is so difficult when you have an almost full-time job and a family, because you only have limited time to take on freelance work so it’s a bit of a gradual process to build it all up to a point where I can focus solely on freelance.

As well as social media management I’d like to also be able to offer content creation services, and I have one freelance client who I currently write regular blog articles for.

Because of all that decided to start blogging so that when I tell companies that they should have a blog and I can sort it for them, I actually have something to prove that I can do it! I’ve only been blogging for 6 months now but have recently managed to land myself a few guest blogger positions. This is mainly why I decided that I needed to have a more professional looking blog.

My first guest blog article has just been published on MeetOtherMums, a website for mums to find mummy friends in their local area. I’ll be writing a blog for them every other month, so keep watching their site.

I’m also lucky enough to have been chosen to be a regular contributor for a new magazine called Salisbury Parenting, where I have my own regular column “The Modern Mum”. If you’re near Salisbury keep your eyes peeled for the magazine when it gets distributed next week! When I get a copy I’ll upload a photo to my Instagram account.

And lastly (which I think is enough for now!) I am also going to be guest blogging over at MojoMums, a website dedicated to news and advice for busy, working mums.

It’s a lot of work, I basically start work all over again when Little H goes to bed, but it’s all writing experience and hopefully it’s a step in the right direction towards my goal for next year.

So there you have it, it’s all busy in the world of Digital Motherhood at the moment. Hopefully I will have more exciting things to share over the next few months 🙂
